The Season of Change

As the Autumn Equinox settles in, there is always something exciting and invigorating in the air. The cooler days, the crisp (often chilly) nights. Opportunities for bonfires, hikes through vibrant woodlands, and harvest are all great benefits of this time of year.

Yet there is something sad and ominous about this season. Another year is drawing quickly to a close. Long summer days are but a faint memory of days gone by. The threat of cold, sunless days loom nearer every day.
So it gives great opportunity to ponder change. The good and the bad. Change is mostly perceived as negative…
Let’s face it: change is hard. It causes us to leave our comforts, to embrace difficulties, and oh so often it is that we are losing hold of something that was once very dear to us.
But the exciting part? Change is healthy. It gives us an opportunity to think about new things, try new things and sometimes, become a better person. It takes us out of our comfort zone and gives us an opportunity to learn about life in a different way.
There are so many things that shouldn’t change and rightfully so.
But in the whole grand scene of life, if we didn’t change, if we didn’t transition from one season to the next, what would that say?

Eleven Years Ago...

Eleven years ago today I was a junior in college.
I was studying investments, real estate, insurance and banking.
I was a co-op student working on a large capital campaign.
I remember clearly what was on the radio on my morning drive to work.

At almost 9:00 I heared my co-worker yell about something on the news.
Again I heard her yell something I couldn't quite believe.
A large gathering appeared in her office.
We all were watching the news.

The day became very surreal.
That night, a very somber college professor said, "You all need to go home."
"Reflect on what is important in your life."
"Talk with those who are important to you."
And so we did.
And still do today.

A Beautiful Promise

It is no secret that I love rainbows.

The beautiful scene when the Sun shines on droplets of moisture in the atmosphere. The vibrant red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet bowed across the sky.

On the night my grandparents were killed in a car accident, I dreamed of a double rainbow in the sky. I was told later that there really was one....I'm not sure because it was the winter and I typically don't see one then.

Rainbow are filled with promise. hope. expectations of things to come.

Have a great week!

Seasons|A Time for Everything

Well, this officially marks the start of Seasons Photography | Nature Photography & Inspirational Design blog. Let's start with an introduction and a few pictures and then a small overview of what this blog will be.
I am a nature and landscape photographer from the Midwest. Most of my photography is from Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and from my extended travels around the country.
Seasons Photography started as a way to share my photography with family and friends but more recently has become an opportunity for me to sell greeting cards, posters and prints of God's beautiful creation that is all around me.
As you will see on my website, most of the photography is with a Nikon d5000. I also never leave home without my small Canon Powershot camera for the times where a memory is being made. Photo editing is performed with Adobe Photoshop 9.0.
Ecclesiastes chapter 3: To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:...He {God} has made every thing beautiful in his own time.

Going forward, this blog will be a venue to introduce new prints and items available via my website. It will also feature photography from travels and life in general.
Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in any of this photography or would like to inquire about custom made prints. All photographs posted on this blog or on the Seasons Photography website are property of the photographer and should not be copied or downloaded for personal use. Please contact Seasons Photography if you are interested in rights to any of the images.
